Our first Bible studies…

Assie… A couple of weeks back I mentioned a young man, named Fernando approaching Bronwyn outside the kingdom hall and asking for a Bible study. As we were on the mainland last week for the convention  we made plans to meet this week. Glad to report that we have now conducted a few studies with him and agreed to study every alternate day. He just loves what he is learning and today told me that “I can now pray to Jehovah as I know his name and ask him  to help me draw closer to him”.

Jess….  Had my first study today with the girl I mentioned before on the blog ( 7th December post). It went really well. She recently got married  and her and her husband want to come to the meeting on Sunday!! She enjoys doing the Bible teach book as she feels it opens the truth up and is amazing since she was told other teachings as a child. When she studied back home on the mainland, her Dad sometimes sat in on her studies. She is going back to the mainland for a week on Tuesday, but I hope we can study again before that.

I tried trolley work this morning again by the bridge that joins the southern part of the island to the northern part. A few books and brochures were taken by children and adults. One man asked  if he could take the Bible story book for a gift for his daughter – maybe for Christmas.

Still… really enjoying the beautiful island, so many things I still wanna try, including maybe learning creole. The people are amazing here, beach is pretty and the food is gooood!

Nikita… My mom went to a study with a sister in the Creole congregation, the study has a 10 year old daughter that is like a sponge to the truth. During the week, the daughter was crying to her mom saying that her mom said to her that someone was going to come to have her own study but no one had come yet. The Creole sister said that she can’t have any more studies since her 10 studies keeps her very busy and therefore she has handed the daughter over to me to start studying with her in the next few days, I can’t wait to meet her! The ministry here is amazing, the studies that I have been on are so encouraging, and I have managed to share the ‘why study the Bible?’ video to many people that we call on.

Bronwyn… I went on a return visit with another sister, also helping out in the ministry from the UK. About a week ago, an alcoholic man approached this sister and asked her to please come and help his friend. The sister has been back a few times since, but yesterday I accompanied her on the call and the alcoholic man and his lady friend both admitted to looking into joint suicide, completely overwhelmed with their problems, one obviously being alcohol and massive debt. Many encouraging scriptures were shared, the lady admitted that she would find it very difficult to trust anyone, let alone trust herself. We encouraged them very much to come to the meeting to experience for themselves the love of our organisation. The gentleman said that he never turned away the witnesses and that he enjoys reading our magazines. He then wanted to know what happens at our meetings and we shared that specific video with them, he enjoyed that and said it answered all of his questions. We were absolutely over the moon that they both attended the meeting last night, the lady had a smile on her face for the first time since the sister met her. The gentleman who has Adhd managed to stay for the congregation book study and loved it! He was so enthusiastic that he even shared what felt like a 5 minute long comment on the ants which led to bees and then how beautiful the barrier reef is etc, etc, etc… it was funny and heart warming, all at the same time!
