It’s Wednesday 26th!!…ASL Search work

This morning the weather was much cooler which is good because yesterday was soooooo hot with hardly any shade in the ministry! Once again the ministry today was in a completely different kinda place to where we have been working. We were also helping today with the ASL (American sign language) group to do search work. The area we worked was on the other side of the bridge – the bridge goes over a narrow part of the lagoon from the south side of the island to the north side. Well… I need pictures to describe this place as nobody will believe me if I just told you. But first here are two experiences Firstly, this is an experience from Mom and Dad. The first house we did was a house where we were greeted by 6 guys  which all looked like gang leaders. When we asked for their names they all just laughed and said they are only willing to give their street names- one being Radar. One of them asked if we had anything for them to read.We discussed the tract ‘who really rules the world?’. They all had comments mainly that God ruled the world but people mess things up. Several scriptures were read and then Radar had a question. ‘Will we burn in hell as all the churches tell us we are all going to burn in hell?’ A few more scriptures were shared with them. They then asked if they could please have a Bible. They also wanted to know how long it would take before they could have one. Since we were helping the ASL group do search work, before we left we asked if they knew anyone who was deaf. They wanted to know why and we showed them the cover of the dvd for the deaf. Jason – later willing to reveal his name- asked if he could please please have it as his wife teaches special needs and knows ASL and she would love to watch it and show deaf students too. The call was then handed over to ASL so hopefully a few seeds were planted. Secondly, on the way back to our carts  this guy comes riding on his bicycle and stops next to us. We greet and he asks if we have any literature. We give him the latest magazines and a sister was able to discuss them with him for a few minutes. We also gave literature to the school security man as he enjoys reading so hopefully here something good will happen in the future. So… now its time for the pictures.

Walking in the territory. Landfill  is placed into the swamp areas before sand is levelled on top and compacted.

Me (Jess) and a few sisters crossed a few small bridges to reach the homes. We don’t go to all of them, either because it looks very closed up, big dogs, or a neighbour says there are no deaf in this area ( this area will be done again shortly for hearing people, but today we were focusing mainly on finding deaf or hard of hearing people)

The start does not look too bad !

The bridge to get to a few homes. It is actually quite fun to cross as long as you don’t fall in… DSCN0400

Proof we were crossing them!!!!!!!!
