More ministry experiences

This morning I (Nikita) was working along with Jess and had some amazing calls on door to door/business territory. We went inside a pharmacy where this man was sitting down, so I started talking to him about the ‘Will suffering ever end?’ tract. I let the man read the scripture that is quoted inside- Revelation 21:3,4. He read the scripture over and over again to himself, and throughout our whole conversation, he kept referring back to this scripture and said that he can’t wait for all the suffering to end, especially as he lost both his grandmothers. Jess and I both showed him the ‘Good News From God’ brochure and he wanted to know everything inside the brochure right there and then! After he told us that he lost his grandmothers, we said that next time that we call we will discuss the ‘What hope is there for the dead?’ chapter in the brochure, we exchanged numbers and the man told us that he is looking forward to our next discussion.

On the next door, Jess was offering this elderly man the future tract and he agreed that this world is getting worse and worse! We showed the gentleman the ‘Good News from God’ brochure. This gentleman unfortunately lost his youngest son to murder and that morning he was talking to his wife saying that this wasn’t God’s purpose for the earth, we showed him the ‘What is God’s purpose for the earth?’ chapter and was really intrigued to know what God’s purpose was!

A few weeks back I (Assie) and a young lad from the congregation entered a local liquor store  and after buying 2 cokes spoke to the owner , inviting him to the assembly in Belize. The discussion went on for some time. In the background sat a man listening to the whole discussion and upon exiting I introduced myself and gave him an invitation too.  A couple of weeks later while on door to door , this man opens the door and after pulling up a couple of chairs for Jess and I , asks if I remember him.  ‘Yes’ I said you are the one from the Liquor store and I used his name.  He was so surprised that we remembered him and that led to a fantastic call. He related that he would have loved to attend the assembly but it was to costly for him to go. He told us he had been in prison and while there he received a Bible (Gideon’s version) and showed it to us – It was very well read. He was surprised to find out that he only had half the Bible and subsequently we have given him a new Bible. He has a true desire to learn more so we have now started a study with him and every few days when we call we are surprised at his eagerness to learn and make the required changes in life. Never estimate who is  listening  in the background.

Bronwyn’s study with the owner of the local nursery is progressing very well. On the very first study after giving him his good news brochure and before she had time to get out her copy , he opened to the front page and said “Mammy , we cant do this without a Bible”.   He was glad to see her Bible appear immediately and was very appreciative to receive his own spanish Bible a few days  later.  After explaining how the Bible works , the first scripture they shared was Josh 1:8 …..The study is progressing very well and he loves what he is learning. In fact yesterday he called his 2 workers from the nursery in and told them to listen to the study. The 2 workers were then showed the video “Why study the Bible” , which they really enjoyed. They now have their own copies of the Good news brochure and hopefully all 3 will be present going forward.

Also glad to report that Bronwyn’s other study attended her first meeting on Sunday on the island..

We continually find interest on the island and it will be sad to hand over all the wonderful calls and studies in a few weeks time.
